A Quiet Thank You to the Public Works Crew
Today after the storm passed through Pierson, our town’s public works crew was out working after hours in the muddy conditions to repair a water break.
While most of the town was just getting home from work, these men were standing in wet boots and mud, dealing with the kind of work most people never see. Fixing a water break is not a clean job — it means digging, heavy lifting, and getting a system back online so residents can continue their day without disruption.
In a small town like ours, public works employees are responsible for many of the things we take for granted:
maintaining water systems
repairing infrastructure
responding after storms
keeping roads and public areas maintained
It isn’t glamorous work, and it rarely gets recognition.
But today I happened to pass by while they were handling the repair, and it reminded me that these are the people who keep our town functioning day after day.
So this post is simply meant to say thank you.
Thank you for showing up in the mud.
Thank you for fixing problems most residents never even see.
And thank you for helping keep our town running.
Small towns run on the efforts of people willing to do difficult work behind the scenes.
Today was one of those reminders.
Thank you for showing up after hours and thank you for helping keep Pierson running.
